CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)

The new CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Cert 3 Individual Support) now replaces all of these old qualifications. This qualification was endorsed by the industry skills council August 2015 and replaces the following qualifications:

  • CHC32012 Certificate III in Aged Care (Cert 3 Aged Care)
  • CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability (Cert 3 Disability) 
  • CHC30312 Certificate III in Home and Community Care (Cert 3 Home and Community Care)

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to aging, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgment in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. Why should I choose this course?

Do you want to work as a carer?  Do you want to become an aged care worker, multi-skilled carer, personal care assistant, nursing support worker, nursing assistant, community support worker or disability support worker?  Then the CHC33015 - Certificate 3 in Individual Support is a nationally recognised qualification that will enable you to work in an aged care facility, disability services and home and community care sector.

Ageing Stream
Electives have been chosen for this course in conjunction with industry to provide specializations in ‘ageing’ for those who would like the to work in residential aged care facilities.  We have a number of residential aged care facilities that provide work experience to our students and we work with them in order to provide training to meet their employment needs in relation to care support staff. 
16 Week Part Time Course
5pm - 9pm Tuesday and Thursday (Theory) 12 weeks
7am - 3pm Mon-Fri (Practical) 160 hours work experience in aged care facility (arranged by Flex Training Services)

Recognition of Prior Learning
Have you already done some study in the healthcare industry?  Do you have a nursing degree from another country but unable to get registration in Australia but want to work as a carer?  Are you a nursing student who has completed some studies and placements and want to work while studying?  Are you currently working in the aged care, disability or home and community care industry?  If so then enquire today about our recognition of prior learning (RPL) pathway. 

Nationally Recognised Training

Our Certificate III in Individual Support qualification prepares you to carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in aged care facilities, for people in their own homes and in other community settings. 

Through our Cert III Individual Support (Ageing) course, you will learn the knowledge and skills required to assist the elderly in their everyday lives. You will gain hands-on experience that enables you to provide personal care, assist with mobility needs, identify and report hazards, all with the use of all relevant industry equipment and documentation and experienced trainers/ assessors.

Our aged care courses are very intensive, interactive, hands-on and the most fun in Perth! They reflect the needs of an aged care support worker by providing a holistic approach to training using everyday examples, demonstrations and practical experience to assist your understanding.  There is also some homework activities and home study required in order to achieve the learning in the short time frame of 16 weeks. 

Our experienced trainers / assessors will guide you through everything you need to learn to work within the aged care industry, from occupational health and safety legislation through to caring for someone receiving palliative care.  All of our trainers have attended Manutention manual handling intensive courses as well as up to date in professional development and are vocationally current working in the industry with My Flex Health International. 

By attending a Cert III in Individual Support (Ageing) at Flex Training Services, you will complete 160 hours of practical work experience in an aged care facility in Perth, helping you to gain valuable training in a real workplace and allowing you to practice your newly gained knowledge and skills. You can then proceed to the Disability stream or Home and Community Care stream with additional theory units and additional disability and/or home and community care specific work experience (min 2 weeks). 

The Cert III in Individual Support course also includes a "Work Ready" workshop designed at providing you will the knowledge and tools to gain employment within the health industry as well as the following Certificates; 

- Responsive Behaviours

Manual Handling -  Follow safe work practices for direct client care HTLWHS002 (valid for 12 months) 

It is a requirement of this course to complete a language, literacy & numeracy test upon enrolment and provide a clear National Police Clearance.

Enrolment Requirements

Students will need to be able to obtain or successfully complete the following to complete the course;

  • A CLEAR National Police Clearance that is less than 12 months old for the duration of the course (Application forms are available at participating Australia Post outlets or online.  Once complete, present the form along with the application fee and 100 points of identification to any participating Australia Post outlet).
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment
  • Photo I.D. (Australian Driver’s License/ Proof of Age Card or Passport)
